Trust God

By Pat Gray

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:4-5 NIV)

God loves us and has a good plan and purpose for our lives. We allow God to be God in our lives as we surrender to His perfect will for us. We need to surrender to Him daily in prayer. Personally, I repent every morning of every thought, word, or deed that goes against the will of God. I thank Him for His forgiveness, cleansing and deliverance from all unrighteousness. Then I ask God for a fresh infilling and overflow of His Spirit as I surrender all and yield myself to Him. The infilling of His Spirit is His Presence and Power in my life to enable me to do His will. The overflow of His Presence and Power is for ministering to those around me.

When we give God control of our lives, we can trust Him to do what is best for us and to bring His will to pass. The one thing that will really set us free from absolutely everything is simple childlike trust in our Heavenly Father. We must learn to lean on, depend on, and confidently rely on Him.

God is a good God and only does good things. We can be content and peaceful knowing that God’s way is perfect and so is His timing. He is always faithful and we can depend on Him. He promised that He will never leave us or forsake us and that He will work all things together for our good.

We should seek to grow to the place where we trust Him completely. He does not want us to worry or be afraid. He wants us to trust and wait on Him even when we do not understand what He is doing.

His will for us is to be happy in our faith. He wants us to enjoy our lives. We will have to put our confidence in Him if we are going to live the peaceful, happy lives that God wants us to live. He wants us to pray about everything and worry about nothing. We should ask for His guidance and then follow His lead. He says for us to cast all of our care over on Him so that He can take care of us. He cares about everything that concerns us.

We are to be thankful and give thanks no matter what the circumstances may be. We can face every situation knowing that God is in control of our lives and that His presence is all that we need. God tells us to lift up to him the sacrifice of praise at all times. This is for our benefit. The Word tells us that God Himself inhabits the praises of His people.

David tells us in the book of Psalms to trust in the Lord and do good so that we can experience His faithfulness. He says for us to delight ourselves in the Lord and he will give us the desires of our hearts. As we commit our way to the Lord and roll every care of our load over on Him and trust Him, He will bring His will to pass in our lives.

“Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him.” (Proverbs 37:7 AMP) Cling closely to God because apart from Him we can do nothing. He is our strength and our shield. We must be sure to give Him the glory for all that He does for us. He is worthy!

Pray this:

“Father God, help me to love and trust You more. I want to know You more and more intimately.”

“In Jesus Name, Amen.”
